My baby girl isn't keeping my breast milk down! She threw up 3 times about an hour ago. I'm not sure what's wrong! :( I got some pedialite *sp* and she's had 4 ounces of that, so far she has kept it down. She is still hungry though and searching for my breast. What should I do?

you gave a newborn pedialyte?! holy crap!
I would stop doing that, keep offering the breast and contact the pedi if you're concerned. Might just be something you ate that's not agreeing with her. Do you drink milk?

this...

if she can keep down pedialyte she should keep down bm. If she cant keep it down its probably something you ate. I dont think youre supposed to give pedialyte without a drs. order unless the kid is like over a year. bm is 90% water, so its all they need to keep hydrated. and are you sure she spit it all up? she could be keeping most down. Unless she was showing signs of dehydration you dont need to give her anything else except bm, even if shes puking it up, she could still be absorbing some.

and if a dr were to tell you to give it to newb, it'd be severe dehydration (not caused by a few spits up) and they would never say 4 ounces

My pediatrician is the one who told me to get it... I'm freaking out now!! :/ what's going to happen? And I tried breast feeding the next feeding after she had the four ounces and she kept it down fine so i haven't given her anymore pedialyte. I don't know why she threw up, but she seems fine now. But now I'm freaking out!! What's wrong with pedialyte?!

It was probably just something you ate. Pedialyte is just going to fill their tiny little tummies with "nothing". If your not continuing to give it, nothing bad is going to happen.

I was thinking the same thing.... I wouldn't give a newborn pedialyte...

I had to stop drinking milk and limit my dairy when DS started puking after nursing.

I really didn't know it was bad. I'm wondering why my pediatrician would tell me to give it to her. But I'm not giving her anymore.

As for dairy products I don't drink milk,I can't stand it! Lol. I'm trying to figure out what I could have eaten that bothered her. I'm really not sure. :/

Could be reflux, but you don't give pedialyte, she's just spitting up which is normal...even if it happens to be a more than normal amount it's likely reflux & the pediatrician can give her meds.
