DS is 12 months old, he recently just got over a 3 day long fever...he didn't really have any other symptoms just a fever and today I went to change his diaper and he had little pink spots all over his belly and chest but, no where else. Is it normal to get a rash after being ill? Will it go away on his own, or does he need to see his pedi and get a prescription or can I get something OTC?
It's not super red or every where, doesn't seem to bother him..
When my DD was 6 months old,she had a HIGH fever for 3-5 days. No other symptoms. Then one day it slacked off and she had these small red spots (bumps?) Show up on her everywhere! It turns out she had Roseolla. Its a virus that causes high fever (hers was about 103) with no other symptoms and onve the rash takes its course the rash comes out and last for 3-4 days.
With both of my kids when they ran a fever they always got that rash. The lady above me got the name right. THey say it isn't suppose to itch but my youngest clawed at herself for almost 24 hours.
Here is what it looked like...these are the pic I posted on here for advice.
I took her to the ER,they wanted to cath her and run test. I left. I knew she didn't need a cath, she is 6 months old. I took her to her doctor the next day where they gave me amoxicillin. The 2nd day after her doc visit I took her back because of the rash.
They can't tell what it is until the rash takes place, and it doesn't until the virus has moved on.
Does it look like this?
Okay, I got a picture of it.
Could be scarlet fever, did he have strep?
My son never had any strep symptoms, other than scarlet fever.

I called his pedi Wednesday when he still had the fever she said, if tylenol doesn't break his fever to bring him in the next morning. He woke up without a fever and didn't get one all day yesterday or today, and this rash showed up today.
My guys tend to get heat rash as they break a fever.
I'd take him in to be swabbed, to see if it's strep. Your picture looks very similar to how my son looked when he had it.

Okay. I call her now..is it like she swabs and tells you right then if he has it?

There are two swab tests, one is quick but less accurate than the longer one, that's the one my son's pediatrician uses. But yeah, they'll tell you in about 15 minutes.

Same thing happened to my daughter. She had a fever, was miserable, then a rash came about and we took her to the doctor,t hats what it was.
They say once the rash comes through, the fever is breaking.
This was my post about it, along with a photo of my daughter with the same bumps as your LO.
At the bottom of my thread,is a link..

That's exactly what it is, thankfully it's just about over now. Your post describes what was happening with LO and how I feel, exactly. Thank you!
