Which birth control is best to use while trying to concieve? I'm thinking about a low dose pill to help my cycles regulate if this round of clomid doesn't work out again. What are some good brands? I haven't taken birth control in YEARS!!! Yasmin was the new stuff when I was taking it. How did your RE have you take it?

I have PCOS my cycles are irregular. I will be taking bcp to try to regulate them some. How hard is that? Of course I won't be fertile for 2 or 3 months but it could help me in the long run? My cycles have been 80 days. GEEEZZZ . Some RE's are acutally using bcps with IVF . Now does anyone have useful advice?

You really need to re word your post and the title. It is very confusing and doesn't make any sense. Hence the responses

I figured their were actually some people here who knew what I was talking about. That's the reason why I didn't write a novel. How would it be confusing to someone who knows what I'm talking about? If you know what a RE is and if they used birth control while ttc?

I'm not sure my answer will help very much, but when I started seeing my Nurse Practitioner for my fertility issues, she put me on Prometrium. It's synthetic Progesterone and worked like birth control to shorten my cycles. I didn't realize it at the time because I'd had a friend who actually referred me to this woman and was also put on progesterone pills and she wound up getting pregnant on them.

I did some research and found out the progesterone pills aren't really good for getting pregnant and the way I was taking them really just made them like birth control where I didn't even ovulate taking them--it was just for shortening a long cycle.

Now that I'm off of them and have been for about four months, my cycles are still kind of "long"ish at 32-35 days, but I like it better without those pills. I had weird side effects while on them.

Again, not sure if my info helps. :)

Prometrium has many uses. I am currently on Prometrium because I have low Progesterone in pregnancy.

Thanks for your advice. I have been on provera and it is similar to prometrium but I don't beleive it is going to help me. I'm hoping clomid is working this time and I don't have to deal with all this crap! It's so stressing. Expecially when my answer opk is postive and my clearblue digital is negative. ARGH the joys of TTC with PCOS.

I was prescribed it for having "low-ish" levels. I'm not pregnant, but trying to be and my NP said it would help me. Well, it didn't. It helped my friend though and she needed it several weeks into her pregnancy.

You're welcome!
My next option is Clomid as well. I was thinking before going back to the NP (who didn't bother to tell me anything other than, "you could get pregnant with Prometrium, but don't get your hopes up" has also said to me to "just adopt!"), that I might invest in soy isoflavens which work the same way as Clomid, supposedly.

My OPK's have only been on the "kinda/sorta positive, but really hard to tell" side, so I know how you feel. I sometimes want to give up because I can't believe it's taking this long and I feel like it won't ever happen. Incredibly frustrating.

My first RE prescribed Ortho but I had really bad side effects so I was prescribed Yaz. My current RE prefers the NuvaRing.
