Adult teeth growing before baby teeth fall out? ~Jekka~ TTC since Oct 2012; 2 kids; 1 angel baby; Australia 8983 posts

Has anyone else had this happen? My daughter is 6 in December, and hasn't had any teeth fall out yet. One of her bottom ones is a tiny bit wobbly... but not so much that she can move it with her tongue. But the adult tooth that has popped up is behind the non-wobbly tooth. Just wondering if this means her teeth are going to be super crooked? I'm going to make her a dentist appointment anyway... just wanted to know if it's happened to anyone else, and how the adult teeth ended up growing. Will her baby tooth need to be pulled out so the adult one can grow?

Sorry, best picture I could get

Hmm. My baby teeth refused to fall out to let my adult ones grow in... and THAT made my teeth super crooked..... but I was also 15 and still had baby teeth.

I would think if the adult tooth is growing in and the baby tooth isn't getting loose, then they may need to pull it so it doesn't push the adult tooth further out of place.

This happened to me when I was younger (mind you when I was younger, it was the early 90's lol) We had to have the dentist pull out my baby teeth

I'm pretty sure that is normal. I'm a receptionist for a pediatric dentist and kids only start losing them at 6, so it's completely normal that she hasn't yet. And that baby tooth should be coming out any day now.

I had an adult tooth grow in before my baby teeth fell out but instead of being in the front left (like second tooth over..the pointy one lol) it grew in the middle of the roof of my mouth and I had to have them drill a path and have it pulled over. I would assume her teeth will be a little off but maybe since you caught it early they will pull the baby tooth so it's not to crowded.

my son's have been coming in that way and the adult teeth end up pushing the baby teeth out of the way until they fall (or my crazy kid PULLS them off) and then straighten up... let me find you a before and after pic

She's been so upset she hasn't lost a tooth yet. Almost all her friends have lost teeth... one of them is onto her 3rd wobbly. lol

This.

My dentist had to pull 4 out of my mouth.
2 on each side.

Some kids do lose them before, but not always. they norm is 6. Like other comments, some kids don't lose all their teeth for a while, and I've heard of babies being born with teeth, so everyone is different! worst come to worse they just gentle pull the tooth out, should be quite painless, maybe get a little numbing or sweet air.
