I am pregnant with my first child (girl) and i am 36 weeks 3 days. This morning i went to the bathroom and there was a slimy mucus discharge in my underwear. I havent been having discharge for the majority of my pregnancy and this kind of raised a red flag for me. i dont know if this is normal or if it is a sign of labor. any suggestions??

Mucus plug and not a definite sign of labor. I lost part of mine with Asher at 35 weeks...here I still am. :)

Its only a labor indicator if it all comes away in one go and believe me if that happens u will know lol if its just bits it will regenerate, with my last 2 I lost bits of it from about 26 weeks and still went overdue!

Not true. I lost bits a pieces over the course of a couple days with Addison right before 40 weeks, then went into labor at 40 weeks and a day.

A solid piece or bits and pieces aren't a sure sign of labor. It varies like everything else with each person.

With both of my previous pregnancies I lost my mucus plug and started having contractions within a few hours. But it is true that its different with each person and each pregnancy. Wonder how this pregnancy/labor will go?? Hmmmmm...lol

The only time to fully worry and would need to call is if there is a pink tinge or blood with it, bc then that's your bloody show with it. But i've seen some ladies on here say even with their bloody show that they didn't have their LO until a day or 2 later. But you are close to the end so there will be increase in discharge just wear a panty liner so you aren't stuck changing your underwear so often.

its the mucus plug just a sign that your body is gettin really for labor. Its PRETTY normal. U may start to have some pain start walking an u may be in labor sooner . From the nurse

I would only go in if you start having contractions, your water breaks, or you have brown or red tinged dischrge. If any of these things happen you can always call labor and delivery and ask then if you should be seen by a Dr., they will let you know if you should come in or not. You can always call your Dr. or Midwife and ask them what they think as well. But if it is clear or mucas like discharge I would not worry about it at all. My friend always lost her mucas plug in chunks starting at 34-36 weeks with all 3 of her pregnancies and her3rd went a week over, so you should be fine. :) Good luck
