Me either :( I can't even fathom the fear walking into a place wondering if it's my child dead. Then getting in there and not seeing them. Omg my wart sinks at the thought let alone if I were ever faced with that. Uh I just can't imagine.

The thought of that makes me cry. These precious lives will be forever changed, their innocence is lost. It makes me think of my friend who is a teacher, her classroom size is 20 students, in just a few seconds this guy wiped out a whole classroom. I will never understand what brings people to do such acts.

Please Pray that DH gets a call back from this job on Monday!
They said give them 10-14 days to call back, it's been 8 days as of today. (he's already had all the tests, interviews, physicals, everything, and he's passed all of them).....so please pray he gets a call Monday telling him when his first day of work is!
This job is going to give us medical insurance, which we don't have.....it's going to be a $5-$6 raise in pay compared to what he's making now, depending on which shift he gets....and he'll get raises/bonuses and everything. Gahhhhh I'm so excited!

On a sadder note, I can't get the shooting off of my mind. :( I had a nightmare about it last night.....not good.

Ladies, my pastor sent out an e-mail and facebook status talking about the shooting. If you need some comforting words from God and a Pastor, this is what he wrote....

It was the worst mass school shooting in history. And to make matters worse, it was young, innocent children. There are no words to describe how these families are feeling right now. The pain is unbelievable. And the question that is being asked by so many right now is, "Why?"

That question goes back thousands of year
s. Job asked it. David asked it. If you've ever experienced tragedy or loss, you've probably asked it too. Why did this happen? Why did God allow it? Why didn't he do something?

The only honest answer is - I don't know.

Here's what I do know for sure: 1) Jesus said pain and suffering would come. He said in John 16:33 "You will have suffering in this world." He didn't say it might happen. He said it would.

2) God never promises we will understand everything. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says, "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror...all I know now is partial and incomplete..."

So when we ask the "why" question about events like this we won't get the full answer in this life. But even though we can't completely understand suffering, we can understand some things.

1. God is not the author of evil and suffering

When God created this world, he created it good. Perfect. A place without evil and suffering. So where did the evil come from? Evil and suffering came into this world when we chose to rebel against God. Because of our sin, this world is broken...fallen.

2. God created us with something called free will

God created us with the will to choose what we do or don't do. We can choose to hold a gun in our hands and use it to create great evil, or we can choose to use our hands to feed the hungry. It's our choice.

3. Our lives, sooner or later, will be touched by the fallenness of this world

If you think you will escape this life without it, you are wrong. We will all experience pain, suffering or loss.

4. The day is coming when pain and suffering will stop and God will judge evil

Some may ask, "Why didn't God do something?" Just because he hasn't done something yet, doesn't mean is he won't. The Bible says there will come a day when when sickness, pain, evil and death will be eradicated. The day will come when those who commit evil will be held accountable. Justice will be served.

5. We have a choice when we are touched by the brokenness of this world - run away from God, or run to him.

Earlier I quoted John 16:33. But I only gave you part of that verse. Here's the rest of what Jesus said: "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world, but be courageous! I have conquered the world."

Jesus says I can have peace. Why? Because he has conquered this world. Suffering will not have the last word. Evil will not have the last word. Death will not have the last word. He has the last word.

So when tragedy like this hits and the pain feels overwhelming, make the choice to run TO him. That's where you find peace. That's where you find courage. That's where you find comfort.

6. Events like this remind us that eternity is only a breath away

Bottom line - life is short. Life is fragile. These families had no clue that yesterday would be their last goodbyes. Many times we don't get any warning. That means it is imperative that we know what our eternal destiny is, and the only way you can know that is by knowing Jesus.

Many of you reading this know that 7 years ago we lost our little girl. I can tell you from experience, the pain is overwhelming. But I can also say that knowing where Heather is, and knowing that I will join her in heaven one day is a great comfort to me. I know this because the Bible says in First John 5:13 "These things I've written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God in order that you may KNOW that you have eternal life."

The Bible says I can know. I believe I do. Do you? If not, settle the issue now.
