So, I came across a debate not too long ago that kind of stuck with me,and I just wanted to see what your opinions may be on this.

To briefly summarize the whole thing; I came across a debate where a group of people who considered themselves as 'Pro-Choice' that believed that a parent(s) could have his/her/their teenage daughter get an abortion if they personally thought it was best. I asked them how it would exactly be about the mother's choice and her choice only, as I've seem them repeatedly state over in over concerning abortion and the Pro-Choice/Pro-Life stance, if the parents could decide tha for an underage expectant mother. One answered and her reasoning was that parents know what's best for you.

It still stays with me and...I guess you can say confuses me to his day. :S

So I was wondering what people here may think of it, and to see if I can at least gain an understanding of this particular perspective if anyone agreed...
An additional question I have is this; Would you consider this a situation where someone was Pro-Choice with exceptions, as some Pro-Lifers may think of themselves as?

You're either pro choice or you're not. I think it's disgusting to think of them having that control over someone else's body.

:?
I'd never force my daughter to have an abortion.
I would be pissed, yes..
But, if she is a young girl, depending on what she wanted to do, I would help her get an abortion.

I would support whatever decision my daughter made.
it is her body, her decision.
and she will always have the option of abortion if its what she chooses.

I used to say I would force my daughter to abort. Because I was an a*****e. I wouldn't force her but depending on her age [like 14-17] I'd strongly encourage one. Especially if she was a wild child and I would end up doing all the caregiving. If she was out of high school I would support whatever choice.

I don't see how anybody could think that it was okay to try and make their daughter abort.

My mom claims that she's pro life and freaks out when she hears about people getting abortions, but when she found out I was pregnant she kept pushing me to get an abortion

They are hypocrites.

You can't very well call yourself pro-choice while denying your own daughter her right to choose.

I think I might know the debate you're talking about...one that included telling a 13 year old she had no rights?

I'll probably get shit for this, but i think it depends on the situation. I personally would never force my daughter to do either. it would be totally up to her, and i would support her no matter what. However, if the parent of the teen is a struggling single parent, and the teen is too young to get a job and provide for that child. then the mother/father may choose for their child to abort because he/she will be the ones providing for their teen and grandchild. Do i think that is considered pro-choice? not at all, because they are taking that choice from someone. i am just saying that i could see why a parent may decide to make their child do such a thing.

I'd never force my hypothetical daughter to abort, but I'd sure encourage it. She sure would have the choice to whatever she'd like. I'd also have the choice to help her or not.

Oh, not that one. It was a debate outside BG on another site I used to go to.
