Quoting cunning cuniculi:" nah ive been thinking about getting help because i feel detached, from everything. everything in life ... [snip!] ... i wish i could just end it. there is always the looming desire in the back of my head but sometimes its more urgent i guess..."

This would be a very good reason to seek counseling. It sounds like you may have some very powerful feelings you're determinedly avoiding?

You. Just more you than you've probably been in a long time.

Glancing over that...I honestly feel like you need to work out your issues with a professional, which I am not.

I don't think you're a danger of killing yourself. But I think you could work out your issues and learn to find satisfaction in a way that would ground you, and make you care. It could make you be a more whole, happier you. It won't be easy. But it is worth it.

If there is any way you can get yourself counseling with a humanist or cognitive therapist, it would do you a world of good. Avoid behaviorists. They won't be able to help you. A psychoanalyst would be helpful, but that therapy is usually longer.

If you aren't familiar with the terms and types of therapies, look them up and decide which one would be the best fit for you.

wow, thanks for all your help, i really do appreciate it.

i was thinking about going to a general doctor and asking for a referral? idk though my doc is far away...we just moved. i dont really have another reason to go get a new doc (not sure how that works?) or the money at the moment if its not something that would be covered.

gah its all those stupid things that make it hard. i have been thinking it would be a good idea to just do it though.

Most insurances require referrals, but not all. You can always contact your insurance company and ask them what their policy is. Many insurances do have mental health benefits, you just have to ask about them.

As for getting a new doc when it's time, find one that takes your insurance. You can either call your insurance and ask them for some, or ask them to send you a booklet/check their website/etc. Then you should just be able to call them up and go.
