I'm asking this for a friend-

If you're a single mother applying for medicaid, are you required to get child support?

Yes. They actually started the process of getting it for me.

Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but for any government assistance, you need to file for child support. I had to file before the would process any of my information. It didn't need to be set up yet, it just needed to be in the process.

They will go after the guy for child support if his income is not reported in the household income.

Depends on what kind of Medicaid she wants. If she needs Medicaid for pregnancy, then no they don't pursue CS, but if it's after she has the baby and she wants general Medicaid, then yes they will pursue CS for u. Or they will start the process with the CS office...

where I live you don't have to name the father to go after, however by doing this the child can only receive it not the parent. I have looked into medicaid extensively but not able to qualify like most of the BG crowd..
