Typically I could give a rats ass if you breastfeed, ERF, cloth diaper or baby wear. Those are your own decisions to make as parents. But-what some parents buy their kids as gifts these days just totally blows my mind. It's no wonder todays kids are acting out and are out of control-they're being shoved into adulthood.

One friend of mine bought her 10 year old daughter an iPhone for her birthday. Seriously?!! What's wrong with a fuckin' Barbie and playing hide 'n go seek?!

I was just on facebook an my one friend just bought her 5 year old daughter an iPod for her birthday. Wowwww. I'm just blown away by the idiots that have thw ability to procreate!!

Tell me I'm not the only onw finding this crazy...

They aren't idiots just because they choose to spend THEIR money to buy THEIR kids things that you wouldn't buy yours.

That is crazy to me. SO would not be ok with that either. I didn't get my first phone until maybe 16 years old.

Meh. My almost 3 year old has a kindle fire. He still reads regular books every day, plays with mega blocks, colors with markers and paper, etc. He's not on it constantly. Technology is where the future is heading, really it's already here I guess, lol.

as to the iPhone verus Barbie... i'm prety sure that the 9 year old will be better off playing the latest 21st century technology than an outdated blond piece of plastic with boobs

I dont care what people do with their money. If you can afford to have your child break a $400 ipod, great. I, dont.

I will not be that parent, though. I agree, I find it outrageous! I was 17 when I got my first cellphone, and it was prepaid! I think its ridiculous.

you are not alone!

Each generation becomes more and more entitled, lazy and out of touch with their peers. It's easier to text then talk to someone. And it creates an environment where impersonal interaction ranks over real social contact.

Kids aren't allowed to be kids and its sad. My daughter won't have a phone until middle school. Or if its before then it'd be a phone that could call me, her dad, her grandparents and emergency. I feel like kids don't need to talk to people all that time.

My dad won an ipod and he never used it, but he thought it would be cool to put games on it for my daughter who is 3. She loves playing games on all our phones. However, he wouldn't of bought it for her though

:?

My kids are getting tablets for Christmas this year, and last year they got a 3D flat screen TV. I don't understand the problem with it.

My kids still play outside for HOURS on end and have a great imagination.

My 2 year old and I fight over the IPad all the time. He plays educational games. He can say, recognize and print his a,b,c's, he knows most of the sounds associated with them, he can read 6 words, can count to 15, knows all his shapes and colours.

He knew most of this before the IPad, but the speed in which he's learning because of it is incredible.

Some of us call playing with age appropriate dolls using their imagination.
