So, basically- I am super nervous. This is my first time pregnancy & I'm due November 1st.. which is very soon! I go to my doctors appts every week now but they haven't really been giving me the advice/attention I was sort of expecting. I suppose because I go to a doctor that alot of other women do so they are pushed for time. But I still have yet to even get checked to see if I am dialating or not, which is bothersome. I hear about women getting checked even earlier then 38 weeks & I'm a few days over 38 weeks. So I don't know if I should be more firm on the next visit & suggest they do a check up or just ease back & just figure they know what's best.

I have been having mild contractions here & there but they are very minor. I suppose anyways. I don't exactly know what to expect or what I'm really supposed to be looking out for. If anyone can just give some advice that would be awesome! :)

I promise you you'll know. I never believed anyone when they told me that. And as far as getting checked i was checked starting at 37 weeks if you really want checked tell them and tell them you've been having contractions won't hurt to ask and tell them what you want. This is your pregnancy!

My Doc always asked me if I wanted to be checked. Its normal for them not to though. Some women dont want to know, because they feel disappointed if they arent. I personally always wanted to know. Just ask them when you go in. Congrats on your pregnancy, and good luck :D

Some Doctors never check for dilation until you are in labor. There is no reason to.

All doctors are different. Some start checking you at 36 weeks, some won't check you unless you ask and others wont check you at all until you are in labor.

I didn't get checked till I was in labour. It's not that much of a good indicator you can stay a few cm dilated for weeks and still go overdue

i started to get checked around 36 weeks. i personally think they should check. i would ask them to next doctor appointment. im a first time mom and scared i wouldn't know when i went into labor. you will know. i was in denial for a few hours because i went from no dilation to labor in 24 hours but i knew it was contractions. i was over due too so i knew it should be soon lol good luck and dont be afraid to ask questions to you doctor

i was never checked till i went in for my inductions, they mean nothing some do not check because it increases the risk for infection.

Thank you guys! :) It definitely helped ease my nervousness. I'm probably just over thinking things because it is my first pregnancy so I'm not at all sure on what to be looking for & what not besides waiting for those always talked about [terrible contractions] to where people say you'll just for sure know you need to head onto the hospital or of course if your water breaks. I have yet to lose the mucus plug either or have any signs of spotting/etc.
