they won't unless your kid has strep more than X amount of times a year. Or there is some other problem. Not just cause she has a soar throat.

I had mine taken out a few years ago. my symptom was just sore throats like every month for about 10 months. I would loose my voice, throat would swell up and normally there are white pits stuck in the tonsils. I kept treating it with antibiotics until my doctor said it was enough!

I got mine out when I was 16. I kept getting strep throat and my tonsils were swollen 24/7, even when I wasn't sick. It was a hell of a surgery at 16, I wish I would have gotten them out sooner.

I had mine out at 18 it was horrible. I wish I would have had them out as a kid. They took mine sooner than they usually would cause I was falling off my dads insurance in a month and I didn't get my own for another 8 months. They were so swollen I couldn't drink.

Lily had hers out last year. She was sick all the time (not strep) and snored a lot. Her tonsils and adenoids were huge. So she had both removed. Its better to get them removed young, you have a harder time recovering the older you are.

My son had them out almost a year ago ( just turned 4 when he did) he had obstructive sleep apnea and many sinus infections.

Both of mine have had them out, their tonsils were so large you could see the knots on the outside of their throats. My little girls were almost blocking off her throat. They both also had excessive snoring and sleep apnea. My son was 3 and my daughter was 2.
