This, completely.

I didn't have a job, or a car, or pretty much anything when I left. I lost most every asset including my self worth to him.

I am doing better than he is emotionally and financially, and built myself up with two children in tow. My kids will always be with me. I will always be the better fit for them. I am sure of that.

I think that you are right.

He is not emotionally stable enough to handle them. Recent events yesterday proved that.

The parent who can care for them better. If its the mom then the mom if its dad then the dad.

I have a good friend who has been raising his son by himself since he was just a few months old. He is the best parent I have ever met.
And the strangest thing about it is his older brother is a single dad of 3 boys. His wife when they had baby number 3 left them high and dry at the hospital 6 hrs after the baby was born.
And my friends gf just upped and left to be with someone else in the middle of the night to be with someone else.
2 single dads in one family and they truely are the best hardworking single dads.
Single dads kick ass. lol

But its always in the best interest of the children and not the parents. If the kids are better off with one parent over the other, thats who they should be with.
