I just found out i have diabetes need to know what to eat keep my sugar from going high?? and what kind of stuff i cant eat regular basics!
I was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago. My glucose stays in the normal range by staying away from high carb drinks and food. I still have sweets just not in the amount I used to have them. I switched to diet soda and that helped a great deal. I switched from white bread and rice to brown. I also use whole grain pasta.
My glucose was in the high 300 range when I was diagnosed. Now it only goes above 120-ish in the morning after I sleep. Which is pretty common due to the liver dumping glucose during sleep.
My A1C was 9.something and in three months it dropped to 6.something and my latest A1C was normal. (4.6)
Good luck with keeping on a low carb diet. It's rough at first but it got easier for me. With the occasional sweet so I don't binge. lol
Veggies, meat ( or other proteins) limit fruit to one serving, stay away from juice, drink a ton of water and avoid sweets and carbs. switch to whole grains. if you drink soda, only splenda. I found two brands, shashta and heines. avoid dairy in the morning. For some reason our body processes it weird in the morning.
hmm I guess it's the same as for non GD only they want your fasting number 89 or less and your after meal ( one hour after your first bite) to be 119 or lower.
and WALK a ton
Did your doctor give you any info?
Try to stay away from simple sugars and eat more complex carbs (i.e. whole wheat) combined with a protein. This will help keep your blood sugar more stable; you don't want it to fluctuate too much. Limit foods with a high glycemic index (such as fruits).
