How to jump start active labor? Lo +1 1 child; Kissimmee, Florida 18 posts

I'm 38 weeks and in the early labor stage.

I'm 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I'm so ready for her to come out.

How can I help jump start actual active labor?

Well if you're not in active labor, nothing is going to jump start it. Seriously. You can walk, do squats, have sex, all to help prepare for when it starts, to hopefully make the process easier.

Intercourse if you have no restrictions and have not been told to refrain from sex!! Something in semen triggers labor!!

Nope. It softens the cervix, not triggers labor.

It's actually your own orgasm that triggers it. It's not the semen.

ETA: By "it" I mean your contraction feelings.

Are you having contractions regularly? If you are then walking can help those to continue and strengthen. Sex can help trigger them and the semen can help to soften the cervix. Other then that just time...

relax and enjoy the time you have to yourself. why rush it? due dates are estimated guesses they can and often are wrong. you think you only have 2 wks to go what if it's really 4 more? Baby will come when baby is ready and not before then.

Cervix softens on its own as your EDD approaches just like it does in the start of a pregnancy, Sex or No sex!! YES!! Something in a mans semen triggers labor and does not work for everyone!!

Research is your friend. I suggest you do some. Of course it softens on its own. Semen can help the process along. But it will not start labor. There are very few ways to do that and it's not one of them.
