c section due to big baby? Pickle Due September 2 (boy); 1 child; 1 angel baby; Kentucky 4228 posts

I was just curious since a girl i know is 38 weeks and she's having a C Section today because her baby is measuring big. at 31 weeks he was weighing 6 pounds from the ultrasound and although that's big i know they can be inaccurate. would they schedule her a c section due to her baby being large? i know most doctor would just induce a little early and see if you could have it before choosing c section. :/

That's fucking ridiculous.
Her doctor is a quack if that's the actual reason she's getting a c-section.

They can if they are allowed too. But I don't know her medical history or exactly how big the baby was measuring and when. Normally they do not schedule a c-section with big babies. They shouldn't even really induce.

They usually don't , there are some cases where they do csections because of size. They still usually go full term though.

She has had a healthy pregnancy just her baby was measuring large. I thought it was kind of strange that they wouldn't at least recommend her to TRY to labor before straight off scheduling the c section.

They have had her ultrasound scheduled for over 2 months so i know it wasn't anything medical related because how would they have known over 2 months ago because i was trying to think if it could be something like that too.

Is there a medical reason that her baby is measuring big??? I had gestational diabetes which causes large babies and I was induced only 2 days before my due date and had him via csection the next day.

I guess it depends how large baby is as to what they or how they deliver. My friends baby was 2oz off from being 13 lbs due to GD they said they needed to do a csection, whether or not she could have pushed the baby out idk. Me personally however would at least try vaginal first! I've had 2 sections due to a bunch of health problems, no way in heck would I have chose to go straight into one just because of baby's size

not a quack... but not enough info to know if it's warranted. We sectioned someone recently... estmated 11 lb baby. baby came out very close to that. definitely legit.

I woudl not be ok with being induced early just for a big baby.... let baby finish developing... just because baby is big doesnt' mean lungs are mature
