Membrane sweep / stripping! How did it work for you? Share w NRPS21 Due October 24 (boy); Cumberland City, Tennessee 88 posts

I'm 41 weeks today and my appointment was yesterday afternoon. I was 80% effaced very sorter and dialated to a stretchy 2. My midwife offered to strip my membranes. She freaked me out about it hurting but I don't think it hurt at all.. Just felt like a funny cervical check. But man was it bloody when she was done! She said after I was definately at a 2 now and baby was about -3 station.. I have been having contractions since then.. They were getting pretty intense so I took a nap and they are still around now that I'm awake again. I'm really hoping I'm getting somewhere! :) I think I might have lost my mucus plug too and it's been super discharge-y since then. Do you have to try to encourage labor right after a membrane strip for it to work? Or does it work regardless of what you do if your body is ready? I was planning on going back to sleep and then trying to seduce SO in the morning and then drink a lot of red raspberry tea and walk to hopefully get things going. I was just wondering how everyone else's experiences went! Please share! If this doesn't work I go back Monday and then if nothing happens they are planning my induction for after the 8th.. Don't know when yet since they haven't called. I am so excited for my lil man to be here!

I had mine stripped 3 different times. Last one at my 39 week appointment. I had my bloody show a couple days later. I had my daughter at 41 weeks. So didn't work for me.

I had it done at 39+6 weeks(nothing),40+3 weeks(was already cramping every hour but no bloody show) got it done at 41 weeks(had bloody show) and was admitted 4 hours later. 4 days of labor and I don't know if it actually worked or not since I had to get it done 3 times.

The first day of contractions it was every hour, second day every 30mins, third day every 15 minutes and the last day every 2-7minutes before I got the membranes swept. It was a long and terrible 4 days but so worth it in the end.

i usually have pretty regular contractions if we dtd or something for a couple hrs but then they go away.. or i just get frustrated and try to take a nap.. i figure if it wants to be the real thing it will wake me up and if it doesn't it won't bother me as much. lol.

Yeah if it's real it will wake you up. Those nights trying to sleep were hell.

i get so excited to start having contractions and then after a couple of hrs i'm just like forget this! and then i figure if it's gonna be a long labor i want to be well rested so my solution is pretty much always to take a nap. lol. now that i got this intense pressure going on tho hopefully these contractions will be more productive! :D
