Baby's heart rate HIGH at 7 week ultrasound Mrs_Henry Due November 26 (boy); Texas 4 posts

I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks 2 days and the babies heart rate was 173 BPM. Did anyone else have a baby with a heart rate that high at 7 weeks? I read that it's not until the end of 8th week to beginning of 9th week that it gets up that high. Would a high heart rate at 7 weeks mean baby is further a long than thought?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure babies just have a higher heart rate at the beginning of pregnancy, I don't think it starts at a certain week. It should decrease later in pregnancy.

They typically run higher early in the pregnancy, actually.

mine was at 187 at 8 weeks...now he is at 140 +/-

I remember my Dr saying that the smaller the person/animal the higher the rate...like a hummingbird has a heart rate of 1260 beats per minute. So I think the heart rate is about average for the gestational period.

The heartrate has nothing to do with how far along you are. Just the CRL (crown to rump length).

If your doctor didn't seem concerned, I am sure it is fine.

It is very common to have a very high rate in early pregnancy. As you get further along the heart rate will go lower, and usually stick around the same rate.

You could think of it this way. The smaller the being the faster the heart rate. A tiny humming bird has an extremely fast heart beat, where as an elephant has a very slow heart beat.

Don't psyche yourself out :) sounds normal to me. You're going to make yourself a nervous wreck for the rest of your pregnancy lol . and your doc would have told you if something didn't seem right or normal.

My LO's heartrate was 141.97 at 7 weeks even. The baby was only measuring 6 weeks 5 days. So 141.97 was a bit high, but my specialist said it was still within the normal range. Same with my LO's heartrate at 9 weeks. The baby was measuring exactly 9 weeks. It was 185.88. He said that was still within range too.
