Lets say your bitch manager is on your ass about EVERYTHING. Fucking everything.

And one of the thing... SMILE BIGGER! SMILE MORE! YOU LOOK WELL, DULL TO PEOPLE COMING IN!

Fucking whore...

Well let's say you DO smile. But you don't smile big because it looks like you are grimacing because of facial paralysis. Seriously, if you smile big it looks weird. So yes you do smile, but it's not a huge smile.

The next time your manager bitched at you to SMILE BIGGER! Would you go off and say "My face is paralyzed, I CANT smile bigger!!!!" or just let it be because she's already a bitch about medical shit anyways???

I;d want to be a bitch, but I'd send her a polite email explaining I already smile as big as I can, and woudl appreciate her not making a big deal about my medical condition.

I wouldn't "go off" on her at all, that's a good way to get yourself written up.
But instead I would talk to her personally, one-on-one, & explain to her you're doing your best with your facial expressions & it already bothers you you CAN'T smile bigger.

I would sternly but politely explain that it's a medical condition, and that if she has a problem with it you'd be more than happy to contact HR about it and see if they'd like to take any action either on your or her behalf for discrimination due to a medical condition.

Oh I almost had to do that already. I take meds for ovarian cysts and headaches. I told her I HAVE to stay around 20 hours, I can not lose my insurance. I dont make enough to pay for my medical needs.

Well she said "Well I don't know about you working here if you are on meds, I can't have you acting weird around our patrons." I said "I taught middle and high school and no one knew I was on meds, not even after I was on a higher dose from my surgery. No one will know." She said "Well I will have to talk with the other managers and discuss this predicament." The fuck?

So she is already against me. She now knows my meds dont make me act weird.

But she was on my fucking ass about EVERYTHING today, mainly about smiling and she fucking called me dull and boring. I greet the customers and talk to them and they ALL thank me genuinely and are so warm and opening. They avoid her. And she calls me dull and boring.... right.

And them she was on my ass about not being fast enough, and was literally snapping her fingers and making the "hurry up" motion with her hands.

I could go on... but today really pissed me off. But the main thing is my smile. I already hate it so I work around it where I know my paralysis won't kick in, but then she says I am boring. Thanks bitch.... thanks for making me feel great!

I'd personally walk around with the biggest fricken creepy over the top smile and scare the customers then say " we'll you told me to smile bigger. I'm doing it!"

I'd talk to her about it. And then give her a really scary big smile as an example.

Write everything down. She's just begging for a lawsuit.

I would most certainly address the fair employment act or what not with her then. I would also contact HR directly and ask if they could handle what's going on with her being so discriminatory. Also let them know that if they wouldn't like to handle it you'd be happy to find an attorney that would be happy to act as a liaison.

you need to get a small camera and attach it to your uniform, record her harassing you and send it to HR. Or get a friend coworker to record it.

Thats what my Mom said when I told her about what happened. I was supposed to be a transfer, I was hired at another store and wanted to transfer. She was acting like I couldnt do my job!!! WTF!

But as for walking around with a huge smile... it really makes me self conscious. It's why I rarely have any pictures of me. I had bells palsy, which for awhile made it where I couldnt close my eye at all, I had to tape it shut. I had 2 episodes, and my eye recovered fully despite being droopy at times. My mouth is physically not able to go up at the side, so when I smile big it looks odd. My mouth is basically like this:
____/
Where it's a straight line, then the side goes up. The other side really doesn't.

I almost cried one day at my daughters school when I had to patch my eye and a little girl said to Lily "Wow is your mom a pirate?" She was an innocent kid but it still hurt. And Lily is cute about it.... drawing me in pics with a tilted smile and one with an eye patch. But adults can be mean, which is why I just dont like bringing it up. It just sucks, because I DO smile, I AM personable, and to be called dull... ugh.

At the end of the day I couldnt figure out how to do this percentage and I was off late. My manager said "Are you clocked out?" I said no. I was still working. She laughed in a bitchy tone and I said "Im trying to figure this out so I can leave," she says "Well clock out, I don't have the money to pay you while you sit here and figure stuff out!" Walks away shaking her head.

I about snapped.

I am not close enough to anyone yet. I am closer to the other manager, who is a sweetie and NEVER pushes sales on me. She has never, ever had a complaint about how I treat customers. But I dont think she would set herself up against the manager, despite leaving in tears one day because of her.

awww....well then unbutton the top button or two and then
set your phone between your boobs and have it recording with the eye facing out to record her...I would find a way. I would have it hanging around my neck or sticking half way out my pocket or something:wink:

I feel like a call to HR is in order. That's not cool.
