I always get super-crampy around the time I get my period. I'll be sure to talk to my daughter about it, probably starting around age 7. I got my period when I was 9, and I hear that kids are getting it a lot sooner. I hope she doesn't, but I want to be prepared.

Hopefully telling her about watching out for things like cramps, mood changes... she will be able to catch it before she is embarrassed. I started getting little pimples before I started my period for the first time from teh hormonal changes.

I got my period at 15 and my mom had conversations with me about my period. I was antsy to get it because I wanted b**bs (which i still don't have) lol! Surprisingly my brother got me as pads and midol lol and I think as a joke haha. My mom answered all my questions that I had and didn't shy me away.

Aw, congrats :D

I don't remember when I started mine. I was thinking about this a while back. Emmy gets bloody noses(haha that sounds weird) quite often and freaks out. I thought, what if she starts her period when I'm not around, like at school...do I just send her with a pad everyday? lol

The schools here allow backpacks.
But if they didn't I'd probably just get her some of those compact tampons and little pantiliners that she could slip into her pocket and then stash somewhere in her desk or locker where no one would see it.

I would probably buy some pretty little case for her to hide in her binder.

Although I was just thinking that I was going to have DD wear pads to school just in case she starts at school.

My mom didn't talk to me about it either. It was so embarrasing, I am definitly going to talk to my LO about EVERYTHING, and totally make sure she understands it, and probably end up doing the same thing with putting extra items in her backpack when she goes to school.

That is crazy! I've heard of schools only allowing clear back packs, but not nixing them entirely.

Yeah in my other middle school I was only allowed to have a clear messy backpack.

And at the same school [with the binders] we werent allowed to wear hoodies so even if I had an accident I wasnt allowed to cover it up. Oh and at the same said school, the teachers can open the binder and shake them out to see if any papers come out, they also have to keep EVERYTHING from the start of the year to the end of the year in there.. so yeah.. Its f**king crazy.

I would probably ask to change schools and fill out an out of zone form. If that didnt work, then I guess homeschool. I just will not put my girls through that kind of embarrassment.

My mom didnt explain to me either. I have a sister thats four years older and was still clueless. Main reason i wanted a boy but since im having a girl i will just have to do what my mom didnt lol. And why do so many moms not prepeare their daughters? Embarrassing perhaps yes, but something that NEEDS to be discussed
