Hi everyone.... I have recently been diagnosed with vaginal (uterine) prolapse... The doctor in the ER and a family nurse (who has lot's of experience) have told me that I would need surgery to fix this situation.... But the gyno that I was referred to was really short about the situation and told me that i would have to learn to live with it untill it completely falls out!! I'm 24 years old, mom of four and I do not think I should have to live like this!! I have bulging and swelling, cramping, and things in places where they shouldn't be!! Has anyone had this or know someone who has had this condition?? i need advice... and Thanks ladies

The only advice I have is, Get a second opinion. That's a ridiculous thing for a Doctor to say.

Have you considered a second opinion?

Idk anything about the condition but at 24, I would think it warrants correction

My mother in law has been living with this for a while. Her Dr. basically told her the same thing. She was just dealing with it for a few years until she just kept bleeding all the time, now they're planning to do a hysterectomy in the next few months. I guess it really all depends on the Dr maybe, one of my friends mother was also going through the same (much younger than my MIL) and she had surgery right away, and her symptoms were a lot milder than my MIL's.

I would think so too... that's why i was like really?? deal with it?? i was speachless and literally about hit the floor when he told me that... I would think that even it it was minimal or barely there, they would do something about it... but i can actually feel my uterus close to the opening not to mention the bulging !!
I hope i can find a better doctor before it gets worse bcuz it really hurts and is uncomfortable.

THanks Mary for the info... it's good to hear from others because i need to know what to expect... im considering going back to the ER and requesting the doctor who seen me the other night and maybe she can referr me to someone else? or put in a request for the surgery...

Maybe you can request a Dr. change through your insurance? My MIL was actually considering getting surgery in Mexico because she was tired of just living with it. Thankfully they're doing her surgery now but I would get a second opinion.

i've been looking all day and called my insurance... problem is that nobody takes this insurance unless you're pregnant. so i'll have to travel a few hours away to get a second opinion which is no problem... thank you all for your input, it did make a difference. :)
