Hey Mommas. This is my 2nd baby and I am SOOOO adamant about a homebirth (HBAC to be precise)
So in preparation and to get to know everyone a little... Let's hear those home birth stories!

I had a birth center birth which is VERY similar to a home birth. No medications, use of birthing ball, aromatherapy, birthing tub, etc. It was awesome. I had no complications whatsoever and was sent home 4 hours after I had him. I'd do it all over again. :)

Would love to do this. The one near me does not accept my insurance. :(

Fortunately the Midwives I have spoken with in my area all take Medicaid. Which is a blessing and in my opinion a sign that things are progressing in the right direction. So maybe soon midwives and insurance companies will work together to bring this to all the mommas who want the experience.

I <heart> C what brought you to your decision to steer away from the hospital route?

Well, the insurance I had only allowed certain hospitals for me to birth at and we weren't content with the hospitals we toured nor with the few OBGYNs we seen. We figured since we hadn't had our kid and were due to get our tax return right after he was born, we'd just use tax money for the labor and birth at the birth center instead. I searched the internet for HOURS to find the birth center and once I found it, went to meet the midwives and see the place, I KNEW this was where we needed to be. The birth center I had him at is the ONLY free standing birth center throughout all of Colorado that isn't attached to a hospital.

I also knew I wanted a natural birth with low intervention and I felt the hospitals that were covered by our insurance weren't into that so it scared me away basically.

Now, I have a different insurance and better hospitals to chose from. If I don't have money for another birth center birth second time around, I am not against the hospitals my current insurance covers. They have birth tubs, encourage breastfeeding, aromatherapy before pain meds, etc.

Also.. a lot of birth centers have stict rules on VBAC. Some will take them, but you are probably looking in the righgt direction at HBAC.
