I am currently 38+2 due on 20.11.12 .
Since last Friday I have had period like cramps on and off and they have started to get more frequent and painfull but nothing like BH or regular contractions.
I saw my midwife on Tuesday and she didn't seem concerned and told me it was normal and could be the start of early labour.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how ling until you went into labour?
I'm having the same thing dr said its normal no labour yet I'm not quite 38 weeks
This would definitely be good to know. It does sound like early labor from my "What to Expect Book," but if she has already checked you out and said you aren't dilating, then double up on your water intake.
I experience the really bad cramps when I don't get legitimate water in my system--not soda, gatorade, or tea, just water.
If you have been fully hydrated, then I am unsure, as well, what the other possibilities could be.
That's how my first labor started. And I think I had him about 5-7 days later. But, everyone is different. I remember thinking hmmm, these little cramps keep coming and going, I wonder if it's getting time? They were pretty far apart at first but I knew something was going on because they kept happening. Good luck to you!
I've been having exactly the same thing on and off since 37 weeks, quite bad period like cramps and lower backache with it in my case. I'm now 2 days away from my due date and no sign of him coming. My mw said it was normal and its just your body getting ready but you never know, it could be early labour in your situation.
Thanks all - I hoped it was normal LOL. My midwife never actually checked me so unsure if I have started to dilate or not - she just told me to make sure my bags were packed.
Yeah midwifes in the uk don't tend to check for dilation and what not until you're overdue so there isn't any way of knowing. And yeah, that's all my midwife said to me and all. LOL
I walked around for 2 weeks with the same thing. At 36 weeks the midwife said make sure you ready to go to the hospital tonight. Yah that was a lie...lol. At 38 weeks I woke up with bloody show, 30 mins later my water broke & he still wasn't progressing. So they put me on pitocin & 11 hrs later he was finally here!! Good luck!! Hope it's not too much longer
m due nov 20th with a girl too!!! Congrats :)
I started my contractions (period like cramps) at 35 weeks and 4 days. The doctor aint too concerned because it can be days or weeks before you go into labor. I am even at 2 cm dialated and the doctors have kinda brushed me off with the promise that they will listen if my water breaks or the contractions are intense. the cramps may seem severe to you at times (in my experience) but alot of it is the baby moving around during the contractions. when my baby is at rest the contractions are nothing compared to when he is panicked about the birthing process. but I've come to terms already with my issue and just waiting it out now. but always seek a doctor if there is a concern. and fyi, its been 3 days and my contractions have not really intensified, so it seems the doctor i go to knows what she was talking about.
