The father's name is blank??

In Kansas, if you're legally married, your husband is listed as the father automatically.

The BC document is a piece of paper shaped like a card and it has stuff like the child's name, date of birth, and date of registry or whatever. There is no spot for parents names and stuff....

There's no parents names on the birth certificate in Canada.

Children are usually placed with immediate family . Her BF is not legally responsible for the child, they are not married and she still has a father that pays CS.

A god parent here is just someone that is responsible for keeping the faith with the child, practicing the same religion and bring the child to church and what not. They are not legal guardians.

The names are on the actual BC. I had to sign my name in the hospital on the certificate and put my thumb print on it.

I filled a paper like that out, but that's not the BC here that's just to register your child with the country or something... I don't even have a copy of it.

Becoming a god parent is only done through the church here. Legal guardians are appointed in WILLS and that is done legally.

I'm not sure if fingerprints are done everywhere in the US but it wasn't always done like that here.

How do you prove it's your kid, register for school, welfare etc etc?

I didn't do a finger or thumb print either.

As far as I know, god parents are just a church thing - they don't have any legal standing unless they're included in your will. But even then, your will can be challenged by other family members. :?

Because I would have all of her documents, lol (BC, SIN, Health card), I don't actually know. I mean, the government knows I'm her mom but it's not written anywhere specifically on my papers. I've just, never been asked to prove I was her parent I just have to show them her documents aha.
