At the doctor's yesterday they told us Savannah's weight is only in the 5%, she was just in the 25% only 4 months ago at her 9 month check up. They also told us no more juice, only tap water for the flouride and only 18-20 ounces of milk a day. They want us to put butter in her foods, give her milkshakes, ice cream and anything with calories and fats to get her weight up. If she doesn't gain the weight they want within the next two months they want to put her on pediasure 3 times a day in between every meal.

They made it seem like I starve her and don't give her the right foods. She is a bottomless pit, like her father. She eats fruits, veggies, and some meats. She gets one small cup of very watered down juice a day with vitamins in it and gets milk twice a day, once at nap time and once an hour before bed. I don't see why she isn't gaining any more weight like she should be..

What else can I do to get her weight up though?

If she is healthy, I wouldn't bother with butter and what not. Same thing happened with my son, he loves to eat, but he is a little skinny thing. I don't know what the deal is with recommending butter-noone ever mentioned to me to give my son avocado or salmon, etc, you know the other good fats...Look at your child's behavior, her skin and hair and you'll see what she needs.

18 pounds. Her doctors want her 22-25 pounds within the next two months.

Her skin is perfect and clear and her hair is growing like a weed, besides for normal 13 month old behavior, she is very smart!

Does she drink whole milk? She should be getting at least 16 oz a day.

Also, is she eating whole grains? Like whole wheat bread, brown rice. The carbs would probably do her good, and I'm just going by what you said she eats and grains seemed to be left out. I'm looking at this more from the perspective of her having a well rounded diet, not being in the "normal" weight range.
