Yes! A seed/pit type thing and you're supposed to spit that part out, but we always end up eating some of them, because it's annoying to go through each and every one, lol.

It's confusing because I think technically it is a little white seed, but people call the whole red part the "seed" so I guess the white "seed" would be a pit?

You CAN eat the white pits inside the red arils.

You aren't supposed to eat the white membraney crap in between the red arils.

Have you looked into Bountiful baskets? IDK if there is a pick up spot near you w/out a ferry ride, but super cheap super good produce and they have flats of fruit you can get at a good price. Recently they they a flat of these and some people came up w/ the best recipes to use them.

We eat pomegranate like popcorn around here. It's just a little cumbersome to seed. The way I do it is cut an "X" in the bottom, about and inch or two deep - and then soak it in a bowl of water for several minutes. From there, I pull it apart in quarters and work on seeding it a quarter at a time.

My mom has a pomegranate tree so last season I picked a bunch and made a ton of pomegranate jelly. Sooo good!
