Quoting M♥mmyD11312:" It's so close, only has a little part left to detach. They said don't use alcohol swabs, but then most ... [snip!] ... then most of my friends said they did & it dried it up faster. I can't wait till its off, it's starting to stink a little. lol"

My sons took about 2 weeks to fall off. And the reason they say not to use alcohol anymore is because it can kill the good bacteria needed for the healing process :)

With our first 2 kids they told us to use alcohol preps to clean them and they fell off in about a week. Then with our last one who was born this past April, they said not to use alcohol and it took 3 weeks and yes it began to stink! It was so gross

I guess I was lucky, my sons never smelt, the only issue I had was it would get blood on his clothing.
