I can't see any benefit. But I still stand by what I said earlier, maybe it should be legal, because if the mother is that heartless or that fucked up to do that, then the kid is probably better off rather than living a life with a mom who doesn't want it or being ditched in a trash can.

A 20 week old can breath for an hour before dying.

As for the ban, I do not agree with the killing of a premature baby. However, if the fetus poses a danger on the mother's life, I could find it necessary.

What were their reasonings? Its already legal if the mother's life is endangered I think

I disagree. There are other ways to go about an abortion at that stage. There is zero reason for a partial birth abortion. Whether you personally agree with what she is doing or not.

Its cool I'm really just curious to see reasons of why it should be allowed...besides if the moms life is endangered....but that part is legal already

This is what Obama released as his statement on late term abortions...

Obama voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, saying "On an issue like partial birth abortion, I strongly believe that the state can properly restrict late-term abortions. I have said so repeatedly. All I've said is we should have a provision to protect the health of the mother, and many of the bills that came before me didn't have that."[10] Obama voted against a bill that would have made it a federal crime for anyone other than a parent to accompany a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion.[11] Obama has, however, expressed support of bans on some late-term abortions, provided they include exemptions for the mental and physical health of the mother

They're saying partial birth abortions normally occur around the 5th or 6th month of pregnancy which is way past any U.S. state's deadline for abortions so I'm not sure I understand what this bill is trying to accomplish. According to this site there are between 3,000 and 5,000 partial birth abortions every year in the U.S. and if they're done in the 5th and 6th months of pregnancy [a majority of the time] then I'm assuming it's for medical reasons.

Why would anyone suddenly decide to have an abortion that late in a pregnancy and even IF a woman did decide to have an abortion that late, where would she be able to get one if it's not medically necessary? As far as I'm aware every state has a limit and none of them go past the early 20s as far as pregnancy weeks go.

I'm suspicious of this bill. This website only gave a small excerpt from the actual bill and something tells me that's because the full copy actually infringes on women's rights in one way or another. Generally bills like this are passed easily because they focus on something horrific but they also include lots of small print that ends up restricting people in one way or another. Not cool.

As for how I feel about these kinds of abortions? I think it sounds terrible and disgusting and I can't imagine anyone willingly having one.
