Yeah but that's you. Each person is different and not everyone knows how to cope with stress. Some people snap under pressure.

Maybe the age someone officially becomes an "adult" should be raised. I was a completely different person between 18 and 22.

If we are going to try CHILDREN as adults, then we need to lower the age of adulthood so that these children receive adult priveleges. You cannot punish a child as an adult. They are children.

It is ridiculous.

Right. It comes back down to, they are kids until they do something wrong, and then we want to treat them as adults.

Exactly. It makes no sense.

The idea of locking someone up for the rest of their lives for something they did as a child is disgusting.

I really don't understand it. I mean, I'm reading some of these responses and I'm just like... wut.

I doubt those responses are from people who have taken a child psychology course. Science has proven that the brain doesn't even reach full maturity until 25ish years old. If anything, we should be raising the age of adulthood, not lowering it.

I look at many 18 year olds and find them to be childlike in many ways.

Oh yeah, like I said a few posts up, the differences between me from 18 to 22 is VAST. I was still a baby at 18, mentally. I had a job and was going to college full time, but mentally... oh I was very childish.

Oh yeah. I'm 21 and in classes with some teens and the difference is so stark. I'm way different at 18 than now at 21 ,and I imagine I will be even more different at 25 than 21.

18 year old is straight out of high school. A 22, 23 year old has four-five "adult" years behind them.

I would be okay with raising the legal adult age to 21. My sister is 19 and it scares me to death that she is dorming this year. That girl? Living without mom and dad? Does she even know how to use a microwave?
