So I had my 18wk ultrasound and checkup today. I talked to the APRN about how crappy I've been feeling. Nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded, fatigue, etc. She asked me to relay everything I'd eaten in the past 24 hours. When I told her, she said I'm eating way too many carbs and that's what's making me feel so terrible. I do eat pretty healthy, I didn't do great yesterday in particular because I was feeling so crappy and nauseous that I had a small helping of potato salad for lunch and made myself pancakes for dinner :) I realize that's not the healthiest diet in the world, but this is just a snapshot, not the big picture. However, she is right, I do tend to eat a lot of carbs. So my question is this: Have you been through this and what kind of diet did you go on? The smell of cooking meat makes me want to die, but I'll eat it if it will make me stop feeling so terribly. But what are my other options for a low carb/high protein diet? I've lost about 20lbs since becoming pregnant, which doesn't worry the Drs because I'm overweight to begin with, but that seems like a lot of weight loss to me in less than 5 months without a drastic change to diet/exercise. I want to do what is best for me and my baby, does anyone have any advice? I'm set up to see a nutritionist next week, but in the meantime I would like to start looking more closely at what I can do to feel better. Thanks in advance!!
try eating more fruits and veggies. I ate alot of yogurts with fruit (like vanilla yogurt with pear slices... really yummy combo), salads and raw veggies. I lost weight in the begining too because I am also overweight. Maybe once your stomach settles you'll be able to handle more meats and what not. Just try to make sure that you get protein in your diet if mean makes you nauseous!
