My children BUT I do believe you can't neglect your marriage if you want a healthy/happy family. I believe a lot of people forget this.

Quoting speaktruth2powr:" What do you mean by priority?"

how can I explain...

when your child/ren moves out on his/her/their own, starting their own family, wouldn't your husband then be the person who comes first?

When a kid becomes an adult, they're an adult. It doesn't mean I won't love them, but no, they're no longer my "top" priority. I'm not going to neglect my husband because my kids decide they want me to come make them dinner. At that point they will have their life and I'll have my life. The relationship changes. I will still love them but you can't really live for your kids, especially when they're adults.

While my kids aren't there, yes. But the second my child needs me, he get's put on the back burner.

In the sense that you are no longer their primary caregiver, of course. But if you mean they take a back burner to him certainly not.

.....why would it change?

Or......... are you just waiting for them to grow up so they get out of your way? :? I know that is going to piss you off, and I apologize. But, really.

Every decent mother (including the ones who want to pretend to be decent) would say their kids without hesitation.

Who comes first in YOUR life?
