Scared of everything Addi's Momma Due January 23; 1 child; 1 angel baby; Florissant, Missouri 5299 posts

DD is literally scared of everything. Vacuum, movies, commercials, the mixer, and she has night terrors. This is so mentally draining comforting her 24/7. I know I sound horrible for saying that. I feel horrible but I can't get anything done around the house without her freaking out. I can't even cook without her being scared. She is terrified of the microwave. I comfort her. I tell her everything thing is fine. That the mixer, vacuum, ect won't hurt her. There are no monsters in the closet. The commercial on tv wasn't real. It was make believe. We have monster be gone that we spray if she says there are monsters but now she is scared of that spraying her or touching her. She is absolutely terrified of of the previews for Rise of the Guardians, Wreck it Ralph and Arthur Christmas. She freaks out and cries every time it is on.

So I spend a lot of nights sitting up with her during her freak outs. She freaks out but once I am there is all smiles and wants to play. It makes me think she is faking it. She is still sleeping in the hall because she refuses her room or my room. If she goes in my room then she thinks it is play time. If one of us lays down with her then she wants to play but if we leave her then she is screaming and crying that she is scared. I don't know what to do anymore and am getting less sleep now than before DH was home. She sleeps in the hall so guess who gets up with her at 6am when DH walks out the door. She also is currently still awake at 11:30pm so I am still awake. She alternates between crying and playing.

I want to fix it. I just want this to go away and her to be the happy independent kid I had.

Now that DH is home? Was he gone for awhile and now he's back? A big change like that is so stressful for kids and they tend to show stress like that, but depending on how long he's been back for, it might just even out on its own as she gets used to the change.

He was gone for 6 weeks. HE has been home now almost 2. She loves having her dad around and acts like he never left.

Even positive changes cause great stress. She could be scared he will leave again.

She was 3 in July. She was never like this before. Her favorite movie use to be Zombieland and now I even have to scan Dora to make sure nothing will scare her in it.

thats crazy. My son went through this as well but nothing like that. His was more of an excuse to get out of going to bed or taking a bath... Have you talked to her doctor about it?

not yet. That is our next step. I just feel weird about going to the doctor because nothing is physically wrong with her.

It sounds like generalized anxiety.
