Probably because it's usually spelled Gage, instead of gauge like a car gauge.

I really dislike it. Is it like a new name? I have three people on FB who named their daughters Lennon this year:/

Oh lord. Barf.

You do know, anyone can print a book regardless of the authenticity of said names.

They could use the name Poopheadmcpumpkinfires and be totally "legit"

Jasmine. I hate Jasmine. Nothing against you or your child. I just hate the name.

That's because of people "adding" spellings.
Gauge- is gauges for tools, vehicles, etc.
Gage is how that name is traditionally spelled.
Gaige is something funky that some one probably made up to be uniq33k.

What about Lennox instead of Lennon? I've seen Lennon around quite a bit recently - Lennox is Scottish. (LENNOX). King is ok, but feels a little pretentious? What about a name that means King - Alaric, Laslo, Ryan....all mean King or Ruler of some sort.

This site is pretty legit when it comes to meaning and etymology:
