I agree as I have been there and done that when I worked for a company that paid very well and I took it for granted never thinking it would end as the plant (Carter Wallace) had been around for 120 years but when the current CEO retired the companies products division was put up for sale and later bought by Church And Dwight who not suprisingly decided to shut us down for good.

coming from my brother who has worked with the company (he owns a store that sells their product, often gets to talk to their employees) for many years...

"Don't be fooled by what you hear about Hostess employees, and that it's their fault Hostess closed. I've worked with them for the last 7 years, and that company has done nothing but raise the price of cakes and take away from the employee's pay year after year. That company was ran right into the ground due to corporate greed. The old CEO ran up 800 million dollars in debt, and the new CEO threw t
he company right off a cliff. Common sense should tell anyone, that if you are selling cakes and bread, and you go 800 million in debt, there is a management issue. The new CEO, a little over a week ago took about 10% of the employees pay and then went and bought all new trucks and computers for the company. If the trucks and computers were working, don't replace them! The first thing he did as acting CEO was paint all the rims on the trucks black; and 2 weeks later, he had them painted white again. The man simply put, was an idiot. I feel for the employees who have lost 20+ years of employment due to corporate greed. It sucks that they were forced to strike for more pay when the acting CEO pays himself almost a 5 million dollar salary a year from a company that's in debt."

They might have been able to prevent if they took the deal instead of opting to strike. The money they would have still made would have been well over the average in that field and now they will be lucky if they ever make half that.
