my daughter is 5 weeks old . and she is a very hard sleepier . nothing phases her why she is sleeping good . my mom used a elerctiral saw in the house and pounded on wood and my daugther slept right through it . didnt even budge . you can hold her in the air , change her diaper mess with her talk to her and shell sleep through it all .. now this is during the day ..
the past week or 2 shes been getting up at like 2am and wont go to sleep til 7 or 8 . the other day she didnt go to sleep til 10 am . and shes always wide awake .
i give her a bath every other day so when its her bath day and shes sleepy n i want her to stay up ill give her a bath ...
literally regardless of what i do shell sleep during the day then shes up all night like now .. i havent even been to sleep yet and its 530 am and her eyes are wide open . someone tell me what to do !!!
Keep the lights on during the day and off during the night and she will eventually work it out. Try to sleep on her schedule instead of trying to get her on yours.
Sounds normal. Just sleep when she sleeps. Like the pp said lights on during the day, lights off at night to try to teach her the difference between night and day.
so totally normal. and so totally exhausting!
co-sleeping (or bed sharing) can really help.
i feel your pain! im going through the exact same thing with my 2 week old. by the time ive settled her after a feed its time to get up for her nxt feed. ive been keeping it very dark at night and been told by my health visitor to wake her during the day every 3-4 hrs for feeds so that she realises its day and not to talk to her during the night just feed, settle and bed. night 2 was lastnight which was alittle better hoping night 3 will be even better!
<blockquote><b>Quoting happy mumma:</b>" i feel your pain! im going through the exact same thing with my 2 week old. by the time ive settled her ... It is tiring, but it's NORMAL for a 2 week.old!!!!!
im aware its normal for a 2week old, still sleepless nights does take its toll on anyone.
If you're comfortable with it you should try co-sleeping or bed sharing. We got our daughter to sleep through the night from day one that way and now we've phased her into her own bed at night and she sleeps all night. =] (She's strictly breastfed too, not on formula which they say can help babies to sleep more/"better")
