How old is he?
I would try letting him sleep for one hour only

This is pretty similar to DD's bedtime schedule at 2 years old. She woke at 7:30am, her nap was from 12:30pm-3:30pm and bed time was at 7:30-8:00pm.

Now at 4 1/2 she wakes up at 6:45am (for school) no nap during the day and goes to bed between 7:30-8:00pm. On the weekends she will often have an afternoon nap for 2-3 hours.

Sleep is good!
