That's bs. At 9 a kid knows what they do and dont like. There were plenty of things I would not have eaten at nine even.if I was starving. I would have just gone hungry and told my parents about how the babysitter starved me

thats what i said. my kids havent even tried pop. I wont let them touch it. and they dont even have any interest in it. People will ask them and they always say no we dont drink that. They are 7 and almost 4.
One time my daughters school made punch and it had some kinda gingerale in it maybe and she drank some not knowing and she got sick, so now she definately is against it.

You wouldn't have starved. I don't believe this AT ALL. If people are starving, they'll eat whatever is available (hello, people turn to cannibalism if they have to). You might be hungry and stubborn, but not STARVING. Very different things. Get hungry enough and you'll get better.

And honestly? If kids were not catered to so much they wouldn't be so picky to start with. When we had no money when I was growing up I ate what I was given, because if I didn't I wouldn't eat. This is of course excluding times when it's a sensory issue, though usually those can be worked on.

I know right. I would in no way let my kids drink it. Talk about sugar high from hell. And all the other stuff that eats away at there stomach in it.

Im sure that if a kid wont eat a normal meal say pasta, lasagna, chicken potatoes , rice or something like that they they are just being picky and wanting junk. Im sure the child likes more than mcdonalds and pizza.
my kids try to tell me all the time they dont like stuff, and all i have to say is no snacks after then...and they eat it all up. Clearly they must not hate it that much if they eat it all.

I have a 9 yr old. He gets one dessert a day. Sometimes he'll ask for a 1/2 glass of coke for his daily dessert. I don't mind it occasionally, but he would usually rather have a couple of cookies instead.

There are tons of things I dont eat as an adult because I dont like them kr the texture makes me sick. Red meat, pork, pears, raddishes, beets, oatmeal, grits. I think it's crazy to force kids to eat something they don't like just to prove a point. Everyone's taste buds are different.

Your not getting the point though. Im sure she isnt trying to feed the kid aspargus and beets or something gross like that. prob something normal that most normal kids would gobble up...Pasta, kraft dinner, chicken rice, mashed potatoes.... its not forcing them its cooking a meal and eating it...i dont force my kids but there no dam way that im giving them what they want at every meal...theyd be eating pizza, chicken fingers nad mcdonalds everyday for supper.

So true. For the OP you are making your kids be picky eaters as much as the mother of the child you are babysitting. You only give them what you want to feed them, um Hello I am an adult and I WOULDN'T eat cut up green peppers are you kidding me. It's really not your job to try and make this kid healthy. Bring it up to his mom that you want her to send him with food because you only have healthy things and he wont eat it.

I do get that. I'm just saying in every one of these I see someone say "They'll eat anything if they're really hungry" and I just dont agree with that.

As I said, if the issue is SENSORY that's different. However, those can be worked on. IT isn't tastebuds if it's sensory (food textures and thigns like that). It isn't proving a point. It's teaching good eating habits. Look at how many kids are overweight? How many kids eat junk? You think it's just proving a point to make them eat good food just because they want junk? No, it's called parenting IMO. My kids would LOVE to eat goldfish and junk all day, but it's my job not to let them. It's my job to teach them to fuel their bodies with GOOD food, and even if they don't like it, too bad.

Now, if there is ONE meal they don't like, that's different. But the issue is kids refusing a large selection of healthy foods in order to eat junk.

well no thats too a point though. not anything...but they will eat what was put on their plate. and im sure what was put on their plate was perfectly good. not some kinda slop or something haha. I agree to give the child what he will eat but i mean if some kid came to my hosue and told me im not eating unless its mcdonalds and i want 20 nuggets id be like excuse me?? you can starve then! thats just the way i am.
clearly i wouldnt mean acutally starve and i would make them food but i wouldnt let a 9 year old tell me what im buying them
