Quoting min.:" It doesn't matter what anyone else on here says, they don't know your reasoning or your relationship ... [snip!] ... should work better than anything. Go from there... If she changes it, sweet. If not, only get waist up shots of her."

We're not the close, I really really don't like her.. which makes me even more annoyed about it

I don't have the balls to say anything, she'll get all butt hurt. So whatever, I'll just make sure not in a lot of pictures

It's YOUR wedding. I mean, if it was a nice pants suit I would say just shrug it off. But I woeked at Waffle House & had to wear uniform pants nearly identical to those. Try to cool about it, but I would honestly talk to her if you are going to have her in pictures & stuff. Maybe even offer to go out shopping with her. Have you gotten an after party dress? If not, use that as a reason for her to tag along.

I'm going to be honest here at the risk of sounding like a bridezilla, yes I would be aggravated.

I'm wedding planning and it's formal and both mothers knew they would be wearing dresses. They assumed, but I would of told them nicely if they hadn't.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. No one's going to be looking at her, anyway, and I find the idea that women have to wear dresses to such events very outdated and kind of silly. That being said, it isn't my wedding.

I wouldnt be bothered even a tiny bit. I would actually be shocked if I heard someone saying something to their MIL about that. Sounds bridezilla-y to me.

Yup!
I had a big very formal wedding and there was no chance I was going to micromanage what all the guests were wearing. I'm will to bet mil won't be the only woman there in black plants. The only rule I have ever heard about weddings is don't wear white.

See, I'm no where close to a bridezilla! I've been pretty cool, calm and collected the whole time
I guess it just really bothers me that SO's mother wore a dress to his BCT graduation which wasn't at all formal, but she's going to wear pants to a very formal event :?
The bridal is wearing a very soft, light pink! Meanwhile she's wearing black, so I feel like she'll stick out like a sore thumb in my bridal pictures :?

I think it bothers you because you two don't get along more than anything. I can understand that, it is easy to let stuff like that get under your skin when the person is under your skin to begin with.

I would expect her to suck it up and wear the dress. Maybe compromise and just ask her to wear it for the ceremony and pictures, then she can change? It's your wedding and it's not a unreasonable request.

Yeah, I know that has a little to do with it too  it just bothers me she wasn't at all interested in the wedding planning.. then the only wedding related text I get from her is "Oh hey, I'm wearing pants and all black at your wedding"
Ugh! Lol she's a monster in law

I really wouldn't even mind in the dress was black at this point, it's just the damn pants that's really bothering me..
I'll probably have SO talk to her.. I just don't want any problems with her right now lol

My wedding was a soft green and wisteria. My mom wore a grey dress. My MIL? Fuscia.
