I gave birth just over three weeks ago and because of a very quick labour and delivery, my contractions were hurrendously fast, the midwife had to cut me and then i tore a bit further so to sum up i got a third degree tear. Just would like to know if any other moms had experience of this and in general how long did everything like stitches and the actual tear take to heal?

I was having a hard time getting my son out because I was too tired to push as hard as I should have been able to and ended up with a 3rd degree episiotomy as well. It sucked for about a month and then it would have been healed but I tore the healed skin back open lifting a stupid half full laundry basket. It was like 5 pounds -__- Anyway, doing that caused me some complications and I ended up not healing for about 8 weeks. I think it normally takes about 6 weeks. You can have sex after 6 weeks anyway, so I would imagine by then it's usually mostly healed.

I had my daughter 11 days ago and missed the opportunity to have an episi. (super fast delivery too) I just had a second degree tear and it was horrific for the first few days, my midwife used dissolving stitches and of course I got sent home with a squirt bottle to help while I peed. The bad pain finally went away about 8 days pp but I'm still sore if I move wrong or sit down too fast or cough! I'm sure it's gonna take a while to feel better again :( sorry I wasn't much help but I'm "watching" this now so hopefully someone else will answer with more helpful information :)

Im not in any pain or anything and only have one stitch left to come out. its just so frustrating because for some reason my sex drive is mega high and i could seriouly jump my partner every minute but i darent because im scared of tearing again after only 3 weeks so i guess im better off waiting the full 6 weeks! I was lucky with a 30 minute labour but am suffering with after effects haha. i have no pain it feels "normal" apart from this last stitch which doesnt wanna budge! LO was worth it though.

Hey, better than a 25 hour labor with a 3rd degree cut like me haha. I would definitely wait on the sex, though. That new skin is still really thin.

Quoting Mummy Clarke-Nicholls:" I gave birth just over three weeks ago and because of a very quick labour and delivery, my contractions ... [snip!] ... if any other moms had experience of this and in general how long did everything like stitches and the actual tear take to heal?"

I had a 3rd degree tear with my daughter and it took some time to heal. I was also cut with my son because his head was to big I kept pushing and his head was stuck they cut me and his head finnally came out with the next push! He was 8lbs 15 oz.. I am still gaping open and will be this way until next baby and I tear with that one :(. I lost my stitches just 7 days after having him I had a rough recovery though the dr said things would be really slow healing for me because I had a post partum hemmorage so my body went through trauma and had so much going on.. It sucked really bad this time with my daughter it was a breeze but I also didn't loose my stitches
