DD lost her cord stump yesterday, but I noticed that there is still something in her belly button, is that normal (I don't remember from DS) and is it still okay to give her a bath, or do I need to wait until the rest of the stuff comes out?

She ok to give a bath. Just keep wiping alcohol wipes on it til rest falls off.

The hospital I went to said not to do alcohol on it. Guess they just let it be these days.... With my DD 11yrs ago they said to us alcohol. Times have changed. My DS cord did the same thing. I still gave him a bath but tried to keep that area as dry as possible.

Yeah its crazy how things change over the years. I guess now they dont cut u down there either during child birth unless the baby is in distress and they need to get him out asap. I guess they just let u rip away!!! They say its because it heals better. I just had my son 11 weeks ago and I ripped top and bottom!! And a artery got silt or something like that and they had to stop the bleeding... I think they should have cut me down there like they did with my first. But whatever lol.

Some places still tell you to do the alcohol, but I only did it with ONE of my kids (my third) and her stump took forever to fall off and was all gunky and nasty. With my first, second, and fourth, I gave tub baths from day one, never used alcohol, and their stumps all fell off around one week old. Food for thought.

You can give your baby a tub bath now, there won't be an issue. My DD still had a little scabbing after her stump fell off, but I just washed her and made sure to clean her belly button and she was fine.
