Thanksgiving. What to prepare the night before? Nomo 4 kids; Mueang Phuket, Thailand 30487 posts

I have to work tomorrow from noon to about 5. so my plan is to have the rurkey cooking all day, and have everything prepared so that SO only has to throw things in the oven and possibly boil potatoes for mashed potates.

im making mahsed potatoes.. if i peeled them tonight and chopped them and put them in water in the pot would they still good for almost 24 hours?

i know the green bean casserole i can make tonight, but would the stuffing be really nasty if i made it all today? do you think it would sorta harden at all?

potatoes in a pot of water will be fine. just put a lid over the pot so nothing gets into the water.

i'm making pies and stuff right now, i will cut potatoes and season the turkey tonight

I'm making all the pies tonight and my mom is making potato salad tonight..

I don't think the stuffing would be nasty..I'd just throw it in the oven so it warms up and crisp up a little bit..

and the only problem with soaking potatoes is if you let it sit in water it removes the starch..that I'd wait to make until tomorrow...and for green bean casserole I wouldn't make the night before because 1)it's so simple to make and 2) the onions will get soggy..

I make my stuffing the night before, but mine is a sausage and rice stuffing that can sit in the fridge overnight. Tomorrow morning we'll prep and stuff the turkey and then wait for the family to come over... they're bringing the rest of the stuff, we actually got off easy this year

i wouldnt add the onions till the morning.. i like my shit crunchy, so id just mix the beans, an dsoup and milk and stuff.

wouldnt the starch cook back in the potatoes hough since its in the water? idk i really have no idea. lol

I don't think so because the starch that you end up washing away when you pour the potatoes out to drain won't be there anymore..but I mean, why not make it before you leave for work, put in it the icebox and just reheat when you get home or when your SO gets time?

Make crock pot mashed potatoes. They are so good! You can make them today and just turn the crock pot on in the morning on low.
