How long can a 3 year old go without eating and drinking very little? I've had my dd back and forth to the doctor and ER several times. They said she has croup. She's randomly throwing up on top of fevers (100.2 as low as it will go with Tylenol) she was slightly dehydrated already on Tuesday at the ER. They sent us home. I've pushed fluids as much as I can bur she wont take more than 24 oz in 24 hours. This is day 5. I called her doc again waiting for a callback. How long can she go? Shouldn't her fever have already broken if it was croupe?

If her mouth feels dry, she doesn't have tears, or she doesn't pee for 12 hours take her to the ER.

Her mouth has been so dry her lips are cracking. She's peed three times since yesterday morning and hasn't pooped since Monday. I figured shed have diarrhea from not eating.

I would personally take her in for fluids. Or you can try spoon feeding pedialyte every twenty minutes...just a few teaspoons. See if she will keep it down and if it gets things moving. It is very difficult to heal when dehydrated.

She is refusing everything by mouth. She has never been willing to drink Pedialyte

Gatorade is just as effective. I would take her in if she wont drink.

I did take her. She has croup really bad. Which is causing bronchial spasms. She also has an ear infection. They gave her oral steroids, two medications in a breathing treatment and double dosed her on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. She slept good, woke up without a fever and is drinking a ton. She also ate two bananas. First thing she's ate since Monday!!!!
