What type of fabric for DIY maternity LolaMcKitten Due May 30 (girl); 27 kids; Beverly Hills, California 15496 posts

Ok, so I plan to cut the waist out of some of my jeans and sew in my own panel, but I am not sure which type of material would be best to use? Something super stretchy like bathing suit material or more along the lines of soft jersey that still has stretch?

Lycra maybe?

Quoting Spencer Pratt:" Lycra maybe?"

Yeah, Ok - that makes sense, I'll add that to the list to look at when I go. Thanks!

Have you ever sewn with lycra by any chance? I am definitely not a professional.

Lycra doesn't fray and its a medium weight fabric so it's pretty easy to sew with, you could try jersey stretch cotton as well, this tends to be more lightweight and I've found gets caught up in my machine more easily (have to be careful guiding it)

Thank you! I'll probably go with lycra of sort then, thanks!
