Okay so I am 31 weeks pregnant. (Yippee!) I am pretty much counting down the weeks till my little angel is here. The closer I get, the more freaked out I get to go into labor. Not only that, but I don't think the horror stories about 3 days in labor, c -sections and getting induced are helping. So I ask all the ladies that have been through it all, is it really as horrible as the drama queens in my family make it out to be? I am not expecting it to be a piece of cake but the way my family makes it seem, I may die after my little girl is born! haha

Thank you!

I was in labor for 26 hours, but it really wasn't that bad. I had an epi, so it sucked, but wasn't painful. When it came time to push, I pushed two and a half times. It took less than 5 minutes. Ta-da. I only needed three stitches.

I was in labor for 35 hours, and didn't get an epidural until almost 30 hours into labor and 9 cm dilated (I wanted to go naturally, but I was so tired to the point that I was falling asleep in the seconds between my contractions).
Yes, it was rough, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. My son was the most wonderful gift, and going through that labor was the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my entire life.

Start asking for positive experiences. If u ask for bad ull prolly have nightmares. It all depends on ur body, ur tolerance level to "pain", etc. it's all subjective really. You may think uve breezed thru labor n ur family may think u were in agony. Who's account matters more then? Yours obv.

Try to relax, do ur kegals, n think pleasant things.

its honestly really not as bad as what i had thought it would be. Granted i was only in labor for 14 hours. The only advice i can give you is to just stay calm and relax. its going to happen whether you want it to or not. also just do what your body tells you to do. do whatever it takes to just get through it. yes the pain is bad but not unbearable to where you think your going to die.i got an epidural when i got to a 6 and that helped alot. it let me relax and sleep a little bit for when i had to push( i pushed for an hour and a half because my son was face up) but all in all it wasnt bad. if it was as horrible as people make it out to be then everyone would only have one baby because they wouldn't to do it again but people have multiple children. just think positive and tell yourself the pain wont last forever only for a little bit and then youll have a baby:D Good Luck!

I was in labour for over 30 hours (around 36 I believe), ended up having to be induced partway through becuase I wasn't progressing. That and (I was young and stupid) my midwife gave me castor )sp?) oil and that made it horrible! But honestly, it was all worth it, and it wasn't even close to as bad as I had been freaking out about!

As my SIL told me when I was pregnant...if it was really that bad people wouldn't have more than one child. Labor sucks. I was in labor for 26 hours and ended up needing a c-section. It really hurt but I was already talking about having another baby a week later!

Seems like you forget the pain once you see the baby. It was bad, but not something so awful you wouldn't repeat it to have the LO.

Sadly every ones delivery stories are different. I'll admit that I was PETRIFIED about giving birth. I was expecting the worst of the worst and I cried more from being scared than the labor its self. However, I somehow managed to be one of the luckiest women that has ever gone into labor. My contractions just felt like cramps, I waited for my doctor to get to the hospital, less than 2 hours after I walked in the door, and just after 4 pushes my son was here. I have had migraines that hurt worse than giving birth. I'm workin on baby number 2 and REALLY hope that this next delivery is just as fast and easy as my first.
