i've been giving my boy baby rice with things like squash or sweet pot mixed in. every now and then ill give him a bit of pudding from a jar. he loves his food. this next lot i've left so it's not compleatly smooth. he gets it on a morning and night and is still having his bottles. he only been having food for about a month.
im wondering where to go from here?
do i slowly make it lumpy or start giving things like cooked carrot sticks so he can try feeding him self.
what did you do?

Speak to your health visitor!
She can give you a weaning plan :D

DS is almost 7 months and he gets whatever we're having, as long as he's allowed it! Some stuff like mash we feed him, and other things like carrots we do sticks and broccoli he feeds himself off his tray

My lo started solids at 3months. He's not eating what we do just yet. Just purees still and gerber puffs. Plus his formula. We are waiting until the 1 year mark to give him what we eat.

Quoting Lynzt:" my health visitor is rubbish. she didnt even tell me she wasn't going to be comeing round my house any ... [snip!] ... im getting him weighed on thursday so ill see what they say. should i just add a piece of veg for him to help himself with?"

They discharge you when LO is back up to their birth weight. Usually within 2 weeks else they start to worry.
Veg is a good idea, just make sure it's soft enough for him to gum if he doesn't have teeth yet

You can always give her a call or pop to see her at the weekly weigh in!
I would just give your baby what you feel he is really for. Finger foods are good as long as their thoroughly cooked and you supervise him.

hes just under 6 months so no rush. he has started shouting at me when i eat so if i could give him something it would be great to eat a meal without having to entertain him through out:) when we have veg next ill give him something soft and see how he goes.
