Contractions Mrs. [W] 3 kids; California 2524 posts

I am having really hard contractions that woke me right out of sleep. I've been up timing them for over an hour and they are 6:30-7:30 min apart. They hurt so bad :/ my hospital is 45 min away and they told me to wait until they were 3-4 min apart and that makes me nervous. Between here and the hospital there is literally absolutely nothing, just desert because the hospital is on the military base which is in the middle of nowhere. I'm already 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Should I really wait until they are 3-4 min apart?

I know 6:30-7:30 is still too far apart but I feel 3-4 min is really close

They're still too far apart IMO but I'd head in before they hit 3 mins apart

Yeah I know it's not time to go in yet. But I think 4-5 min apart seems safer then 3-4 min when I have to drive so far

Every body is different. You might not have the close together contractions until you hit transition- I started planning to go in with contractions 5 minutes apart, by the time I got to the hospital I was 5cm, 20 minutes later, 8cm, then the contractions came faster.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is listen to your gut. It couldn't hurt to start moving towards the hospital since is bit far.

Is there anything close to the hospital? Could you go somewhere and walk around or hangout? Just to give you a piece of mind.

I personally would make myself feel a lot better if i went ahead aand headed down to the hospital. Im worried about the same thing, my hospital is an hour and 15 mins away, IF traffic is good.

Wait until they're 4-5 minutes apart, but you don't have to have them that close for a whole hour. Labor can progress insanely fast, so don't limit yourself. If you get there and it hasn't picked up any, you can walk around the hospital grounds for a little while and help speed things up.
