Possible ear infection?? 9 month old. Maddie F 1 child; Sarasota, Florida 777 posts

For the past month my daughter has been sticking her finger in her ear and then making a mmm sound. My mom thinks she either has an ear infection or is trying to hear herself. We had her hearing checked out when she was in the nicu and they said she passed. She used to also pull at her ear a bit. Has anyone's child done this? Could it be an ear infection or a hearing problem? We're going to her 9 month check-up tomorrow but I wanted to get some advice on here first(:

My DD had 15 ear infections before they put tubes in her ears, and as an infant, that is how I knew she had one. I would have taken her into the doctor a while ago. Having an ear infection go untreated can cause more damage.

Sounds more like she just found her ears and is messing around.

If she had an ear infection it'd be REALLY bad if it didn't have it treated for a month. She'd be in severe pain and have a high fever.

It doesn't sound like an ear infection.

The only reason I never took her in is because she did it before her last visit and they said it was nothing and it doesn't seem to hurt her at all. The only reason why i'm concerned is because she's still doing it. She doesn't really tug at her ear anymore she just sticks her finger in her ear and makes sounds like she's trying to hear herself.

My son was obsessed with his ears at that age. he'd just always play with them..and when his hair touched them he's scratch em. People always said "i think he ha an ear infection" i'm like..noo , he just likes playing with his ears at the moment.

Awhh, yeah I get that all the time. I was more worried about it when she would pull on them. She's also teething and I heard that can contribute to ear problems. I'll ask the doctor tomorrow but I doubt anything is wrong!(:

Thanks(: I wasn't sure, first child and all. Plus if she does it around people they usually assume she has an ear infection.

When ever anyone sees her do it they say the same thing but i just tell them she has done it since she was born. I would still get her pedi to check her ears whenever she goes next just to make sure but she would probably have a fever if she had an ear infection.
