I was at the WIC clinic today and i overheard this lady tell the staff that she had had 17 miscarriages. 1 baby born at 16 weeks. another at 13 weeks and the rest early miscarriages and she wanted WIC because she was high risk...she didnt qualify by like a hair for the income. so they denied her.

Also she was saying how she has so much medical bills and she cant afford to buy food for herself but doesnt qualify for food stamps because they dont take into consider bills...

thoughts???

While I feel bad for her maybe she should get caught up on all of her bills and then try for a baby. Then she would have money to feed her self. It makes more sense in my brain that way.

shit like this makes me sad
if you try to make it on your own and need help you get denied because you make too much money

Being high risk has nothing to do with it. That really sucks for her...but if she can't afford to feed herself how is she going to take care of a child? I know the answer to that already.

Then why would you keep TTC if you can't afford food?

I feel for her on her not being able to have a child, but maybe it;s God way of saying wait until you're financially ready.

If she doesnt qualify she doesnt qualify, there are guidelines for a reason...you cant factor in personal stories because everyone goes through bad shit and hard times.

Its also not the people who work at WICs fault, its a federal program and someone else makes the rules.

Why would she keep getting pregnant if she cannot afford to support herself?

Wow thats horrible! GA WIC doesnt approve women unless they are pregnant. And the GA foodstamps considers bills... Thats just fucked up that they did that....

My kids are on full medi-cal but we can't qualify for food stamps, and we have WIC. They don't consider other bills anyway which sucks but it is how the system goes.

As for the lady, well 17 miscarriages? Somehow I really don't believe that but I am sure it can be possible. There are many people who lie to get on welfare.

Poor woman. :( But yeah...they don't take bills into consideration. The first time I applied I didn't qualify by $127. I wanted to scream! That's horrible for that woman though. But I almost have to wonder if her story was exaggerated so they'd let her qualify.

There are plenty of food shelters or pantries around, and there are also always churches willing to help with donations and such, if you know her or got her info i would suggest to her to find a local food pantry they usually have other items too like TP and pads and stuff, sometimes even kitty litter (usually in place of salt to melt ice in winter) and tooth paste! Also they have a ton of vitimans and stuff that if she asks they can give but wont put out she has to ask for them!
