why put yourself through so much pain??? *TaraT&3peas* Due March 31; 2 kids; Ohio 359 posts

Ok, if anyone on here wants to give birth naturally, good for you, whatever, me personally find no harm to the baby with medicines to make me comfortable or im sure the doctor wouldn't give them to you during birth if it was dangerous! So NO it does not mean you are a FAILURE because you can't handle the immense pain of contractions and personally its a fact that giving birth to a baby is much like getting burned alive. I feel sometimes that women who want to go naturally, its not even so much about the meds, but more to feel tough, to feel like you're a bad ass, like getting a i'm tough trophy when our trophy needs to be the beautiful baby itself :) ...........and ya know pregnancy is tough in itself, you are tough for having a successful pregnancy and producing a healthy baby!

I just don't see why anyone would put themselves through so much pain when you can easily have a very enjoyed comfortable birth, plus getting an epidural will relax your nerves and help you dilate faster because you aren't so tense, the epidural does not make you loopy it just numbs you from the waist down for a couple hours! I got it with my second child because with my first I FELT EVERYTHING!!!!! and unfortunately, it was not by my choice, my water broke and he came too quickly and did not have time for the epidural!!! and trust me when i tell you it feels like your vag and ass is ripping apart and iBut m not lying when i say that sometimes you CAN rip!!!!! your contractions get immensely stronger the farther dilated you get and feels like your ribs are breaking with just a flick of a finger.... i would imagine giving birth is what getting murdered would feel like lol!!!!

but with my daughter it was like night and day, i was in heavenly paradise with her!!! soo amazing!!!! i can't tell you how big of a fan i am with the epi!

but one point im trying to make is.... like with my first child, i didn;t have a choice, sometimes birth can go the way that it wants to go.... sometimes we want to give birth naturally but something goes wrong and we have to do an emergency C-Section and you are obviously heavily medicated with that..... but I just want the mothers/ mothers-to-be out there to know YOU ARE TOUGH YOU ARE A MOTHER, your tough times will not be remembered for how you birthed your child but for how you raise your child, for how you treat your child! Trust me, the tough times are not until you have a toddler bad mouthing you and shitting on the carpet!! You are wonderful, you are beautiful, believe it, and ENJOY labor!! because some women cannot ever experience it at all..............

Well I didn't get an epidural because I'm terrified of needles. I would rather go through the pain if labor than get a shot, lol, I'm a p***y.

I've had 3 epidurals & I regret every one of them! I have THE WORST back pain ever now! I also hate needles but I'm a wuss when it comes to pain but I now realize that I could've done it without it!

I actually prefer non-medicated birth over an epi for so many reasons. That's just me personally, though.
Sooooo, I will give birth non-medicated again with any future children...willingly.

I was thinking the same thing. I get angry that some women will try to make you feel like a bad person for choosing to have a comfortable, pain-free birth. I know women have been birthing babies for thousands of years, but it's 2012. I have the option to have a comfortable, less stressful birth. I don't WANT to feel the ring of fire. I don't want to feel my baby rip me apart. But it certainly doesn't make me any less of a mother because I choose comfort over all natural. Not my thing.

I actually don't think natural child birth hurt that bad. My SIL got an epi & it only numbed half of her. I also know another girl who had an extremely long labor because of an epi. I'll deal with a little bit of pain. lol

Well, you're just as annoying as Mothers who demean women who have pain relief during labor. It's an individual choice and no option should be looked down upon. It's doesn't make you a "tough woman" just because you choose to birth naturally. To think that is f**king stupid. Women were made to give birth long before pain medications were invented.

But now that they have been invented, there's nothing wrong with taking them. So just go back to your corner and hush.

Some people just don't get an epi cuz the pain isn't that bad??
Some done get one because they are allergic?
Had a bad experience with it?
there are side effects that can do permanent damage to you.
Me I had the spinal headache for WEEKS after with my second.

It's not about the mother wanting to feel tough.
I didn't have an epi with my first the entire 16 hours of labor until i was in the OR and with my second the entire 6 hours of labor (including some pushing) until i was in the OR and I would do it ALL over again and plan to because the pain wasn't THAT bad to me.

Idk y someone would try and make anyone feel bad. I can't have an epidural and yes the needle and procedure risks scare me. So in my mindset, if I'm not getting that I'm not going to use anything else. I have a pretty good pain tolerance. But I personally would never tell another mother they are bad or they are less bc of any decision they make.

No, you said women who birth naturally do it to feel tough, like a bad ass. You're an idiot. By the way, this is what you get when you post something online. People say shit. You want to talk about other women, but they can't say something back? Yeah.... okay....

If I ever have another baby, I will try everything in my power to have a completely natural birth. It's what I've wanted with all 3 of mine.

My labor didn't hurt. I've had period cramps that were worse. And I didn't have time for an epidural.
