Thanks, again. I'm doin alright. DH isn't taking it well. He couldn't bring himself to bury him. It was killing me knowing how upset DH is and how poor Pete was just laying out behind our shed all night. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But I had to do it. I just hope it doesn't upset DH that I went ahead and took care of it. :-/

DH is already making plans to get a new puppy this weekend, though. I just don't want it to be too soon. But he says he can't go without a dog. Hopefully everything works out and we all end up happy in the end.

Well he was saying he was going to go look at more Bassets but now he's thinking of getting an Aussie pup from a family friend. So I'm not sure now.

I'm still iffy. DH is doing better with the loss, but even though I thought I was I've cried a few times today about it. I just don't want to feel rushed about it, ya know? Like I would feel bad getting another dog so soon. Idk. DH says he feels the same way, but he doesn't like not having a dog around so that's why he wants to get another one soon.

I kwim. And it would be nice to have another furbaby. I realized tonight that even though I complained about Pete's non-stop barking at night, I really miss it now.

DH's cousin's dog is taking it hard, too. (He's a blue heeler and lives next door) He never liked my dog Joey, but he became really close to Pete. The day it happened he wouldn't go near him and just kept staring at him waiting for him to get up, yesterday he laid next to me as I buried Pete, and today he was loving up on DH and tried coming inside our house. It's so sad :( I'm afraid if we get another dog too soon he may reject it. He's always been a loner until last year when I moved out here with Joey, so he's not used to other dogs really. Which is why I find it funny that he hated Joey, the quiet shy dog, and loved Pete, the obnoxious goofy dog lol.

Idk. I'm sure me and DH will talk more about it. We've just been busy the last few days and I'm afraid to bring it up, cause he hasn't even said Pete's name since that day he just talks about the next one we'll be getting.

I actually think he may have gotten closer to Pete because we got him as a pup, whereas my dog was already 6yrs old when I brought him out here. So hopefully that'll be the case again and we won't have any issues with them getting along.

Lol well luckily DH and I have experience with both Bassets and Aussies lol I just hope he doesn't spend $800 on a dog again. lol I guess it's my fault cause I said Pete was cute and I wanted him lol

<blockquote><b>Quoting adяiyanas mami:</b>" That could be. cause ( not to keep bringing up my dogs lol ) but with my experience in my dogs, When ... [snip!] ... with both breeds your thinking of getting.... I think Aussies are cute!! but so are bassetts, id be so torn on which to go with"</blockquote>

I think it's cause puppies are less intimidating. That's what makes most sense to me anyways.

And Pete was definitely worth the 800. He was only that much because he was a miracle pup :) They had split up the malr and female when she came into heat, somehow still ended up pregnant, he was the only pup (they normally have 6-8) and he was so large he had to be taken via c-section. And after all that they almost lost him shortly after he was born. But he made it and then he made it into our home and hearts :D

Oh it's definitely a hard decision. We both love Bassets and the Aussies we're looking at are gorgeous blue merles. It's hard to choose which is cuter lol
